Drywall System in Archicad
Drywall is a modern building material widely used due to its fast and convenient installation.
Éptár developed an Archicad application for the Rigips system on behalf of the company.
How does the drywall application work?
Like all solutions containing 3D content, it includes a GDL library and a controlling add-on. The application appears in the Archicad menu system. It can operate either through menus only or through a custom Archicad-style palette interface. The currently completed add-on is controlled through the menu system.
What can the application do?
- It always starts from the Archicad model, meaning that before a wall becomes a drywall wall, a simple Archicad wall must first be drawn. The advantage of this approach is that there is no need to preload all composite structures into Archicad, preventing the material list from becoming an endless database.

- The add-on can convert Archicad walls into drywall walls with selected layer structures (types) chosen from a database.

- After conversion, each wall receives a unique ID, allowing the program to identify it later during schedule generation.
- The program not only displays the wall layers, but also automatically places the required framing structure according to the construction rules of the system - both in floor plan view and in 3D.

- The framing profiles are modeled using real profile geometries and displayed according to the drawing scale.

- The detailing around doors and windows is also generated automatically, without the need for additional manual intervention.

- The end result is a non-native Archicad partition wall system that fully complies with architectural design standards. By using the product, we can represent not only informational data but also realistic structural appearances of the applied materials and constructions. Thanks to the detailed modeling, real construction detail sections can also be generated directly from the model.
In addition to the application above, a 2D library containing standard construction details was also developed, which can save significant time in many situations.
